The original amount of the debt was $1400.63, as you can see from the piece of paper SHE gave me with the total SHE had written:
Yeah, she called me "PEEJ." I wrote in the "+7.00 GAS (OCT 2)" in pencil per her request several years ago, but that is inconsequential to the larger debt. As the IOU indicates, she paid some of the debt. She also made two additional payments that included homemade Payback Coupons:
After deducting the $60, the amount My Ex owes me comes to $1223.13. She had offered to pay back the total amount "with interest," though the interest (since 1996) was never calculated. I really don't want to bother figuring out how much that would be, so to help keep things neat and tidy, the amount I'm trying to collect is $1400.00. I figure that is a nice, symbolic amount, since it is nearly what she owed me in the first place and - with a really small amount of interest, the cost of some shipping and the cost of running this site for about a year - that's really not too much more than the remaining amount.
